KATHARINA JAEGAR
Born in Zurich1964, Katharina Jaeger immigrated to New Zealand in 1986. She completed her Bachelor of Design at Ara Institute of Canterbury and has exhibited in solo and numerous group exhibitions nationally, recently as a finalist in the Parkin Drawing Prize 2017.
Jaeger’s practice consists mainly of drawing and sculpture. Drawing is central and ranges from small to large scaled works on paper and textile. The use of found objects has been part of her practice over the past 15 years. Items such as clothing, domestic furniture, household and recreational items are combined with other elements and resurrected anew.
Jaeger has also made installations in galleries, as well as in outdoor environments, some of these projects have been in collaborations with other artists. She is interested in transformation and twining together themes of the established and misplaced, the anonymous and the personal.
