SIMON OGDEN – digging in the dirt for diamonds – 13 April-7 May, 2021
Birds fly through plants and trees amidst a wondrous array of patterns in this major exhibition of Simon Ogden‘s linoleum constructions 2019 – 2021. These works are painterly yet barely a brush touches them. They are refreshingly crafted from found linoleum with patterns evocative of times past while remaining free of specific historical constraint.
The exhibition is dominated by two large multi-panelled works. Middlemarch (top) and HWY 285 (above) and Simon Ogden has also made two narrow panoramas, a series of square works and jewel-like small constructions, all inventive and showing expert use of materials.
